NADEX Trading Strategies - Binary Options

I experimented w/ Binary Options on NADEX

I shared this on another forum but thought this might be useful/interesting here
I put $250 into a NADEX account 3 weeks ago just to test this out. I've done a few daily Index BO's but mainly played with 5 min expiration USD/JPY trades.
First off, the spreads will wreck you. For USD/JPY pairs, you're looking at >12% spreads depending on the market. Price action moves too fast to effectively use limit orders IMHO.
Here's a rough approximation of how I did (3 Free Days Trading):
Today I started with my $80 and traded nothing but USD/JPY pairs In about 10-15 trades I got back up to $240 (a little under where I started).
Rules I Followed Trading Only $84 Today
Sizing is important. Generally I only traded 1 contract at a time. My big draw down from $550 to $200 came bc i got greedy and traded 3 contracts. Losses compounded obv.
To me, I don't have any edge over the house. I was just lucky getting back from $80 to $240. Perhaps there's some skill involved but I certainly don't have it.
The only strategy I used was reading the tape and making calls based solely on support/resistance levels (I'm not a technician but that's basically what I did).
I'm not saying someone else can't become consistently profitable, I'm just saying that I'd rather take more calculated risks selling Iron Condors on $SPY.
If spreads weren't so wide I'd probably explore this more but I'm closing the account tomorrow. Hope this helps!

New to Finances and Looking for Thoughts

Hello PF.
Long time lurker, first time posting. Looking for thoughts/opinions/advice on my financial outlook.
26(m) working as a teaching assistant right out of college (BA Child Development). Making $13/h (40 hr a week) and feel like I'm still living paycheck to paycheck. $600 savings in Ally online savings (thanks for the idea moving from BoA). $490 in Betterment ($300 in Betterment Roth IRA). Rent is only $325 (split with SO) and bills run roughly $80. CC debt of $2000 at 0% APR until Jan 2015 when it becomes 17.99%. Food is my only other expense and for some reason I feel like I am way behind everyone else my age on here in terms of savings and investments.
What should I do to catch up? How should I go about tackling my CC debt? Should I make minimum payments until the interest starts and use that extra $100-200 a month to throw into savings? Also, looking into possibly trading binary options on Nadex for a supplemental income, bad idea?

Marketmaking on Nadex Binary Options with US Vanilla Options

Hi,
So one of my friend recently bragged me that he has been making over 100% last month on Nadex by trading on daily or hourly binary options (if "US500" or "Tech100" is above or below a certain level); and that at this current level, he can lever his account to 7 figures in a year,
It got me thinking about taking the other side of his trades; or market making on Nadex as I believe a few professional marketmakers have moved onto the Nadex platform, rationale being:
So an outline of marketmaking scheme/algo is as follows:
Just curious if you guys have any thoughts; obv. all of the problems with a being marketmaker comes into mind: inventory risk, liquidity/execution risk, information asymmetry etc. But always loved to experience how the other mysterious half of society lived (the MMs), so would love to hear your guys feedback!

Question on Binary Options & Nadex?

If Nadex doesn't bet against a Strike price then what price do people bet against? That being said, how do legitimate foreign Binary trading services reliably make money if the bets are against the house and not other investors?

Binary options apps

I'm working on a very innovative and intuitive, fully compliant binary options platform but just found out binary options apps are now not allowed on the Apple Store? How true is this? Even if I'm fully compliant, no fraud, customer centric business? Is it the same for Google Play? Does Nadex have a mobile app on the App Store? I can't seem to find it but stumbled upon NadexGO. The more information you can give me the better. Thank you in advance!

"THE NADEX ERA"

Fast forward to 2012....
The past 3 years watched me stumble through many live futures accounts. Oh I shined a little here and there. At least I thought I was shining. Took several 2k and $1500 accounts to 7, 8, and 10k. Yes, I blew several 2k accounts. And Eventually, I was busted.
After many family and friends buying into my vision only to visualize departure from their investment.... Losses! It became difficult to find funding. So mostly I spent every day trading demo. Obsession was in full bloom. Reenter the cousin. He tells me I should check out Nadex. Says it cost a lot less to get started. Well, he was once again providing the capital so I did a little digging. Nadex is a binary options outfit. Yeah I know. But I didn't know then.
In we go with 1500 bucks. A few weeks later were up 200%. A few months later we've recouped the $8500. This of course thrilled his wife. I would go on to jump off a Facebook trading group and reel in over 100 paying members. Everything was sweet. The minimum capital to get in was $2500. My fee was 35% of profit. If they came in at 5k, I would reduce my fee to 25%.
MINDSET: I was still shooting for the moon. Returns averaged 20, 30% a week. Some weeks saw a 100% return. Stoploss are not part of Nadex binary options. So risk management wasn't a strong part of my trading. I focused mainly on buying in-the-money strikes. Purchase at 60 to 75, reward 25 to 40 bucks a contract. Looking back I can only say I was very lucky or very good. Or a bit of both.
This would all end with a shutdown order from the Texas Regulatory guys. I was placing all the investment capital sent to me via my bank account into one trading account. Pooling the funds. This is not allowed if one isn't licensed. I didn't have a series 3, 5, or anything. Truth is, I wasn't aware of any of that. The process tied up investor funds for a moment. It took more than 9 months to get things cleared up.
Anyways...I was done with Nadex. And binary options.
The Nadex era rewarded me with growth and familiarity of the markets. Specifically the YM. During this period I spent all my time analyzing and studying the dow jones. It became as a family member. I begin to recognize her facial expressions. Her mood swings. My ability to call the movement of the YM became superior to any trader I was viewed online. The numbers they were achieving seemed elementary too me. But these guys were trading futures not binary options.
It was time to go home.
The issue would be taking my Nadex approach back to futures. Like taking a knife to a gunfight.....

Nadex API

I have written in a couple support tickets related to Nadex API and have received very short answers. I was hoping that like the rest of the IG group we would have access to the Nadex API. GitHub has a lot of the work already done and available for interested parties to utilize. I'm a strong believer that a good strategy can be automated. Outside the USA we have developers who's entire success is related to creating automated trading systems for different binary brokers. We have binary.com which has a simple plug and play bot creation tool that is amazing and simple to use. I know that Apex Investing who provides a lot of material and tools for Nadex community was also working on using the Nadex API at one point. These are all tools and options in a brokeexchange that the majority of people are looking for. Lets get the conversation started and hope the Nadex team can shed some light on future developments in this direction. Thanks Nadex Team.

Why is NADEX charging its customers with penalties?

I saw on the NADEX notices page, they recently issued "notice of disciplinary actions" against several traders for seemingly trivial things like "failing to provide requested informaton". I was shocked they even fined these people sums of money ranging from $1500 to $2500. The amounts were small, sure, but seriously WTF is going on? I have never heard of a broker fining its own clients.
"Hey trade binary options with us, but if your phone number is incorrect we're going to fine you $2500."
... LOL!!! How can that even be legal?

Any suggestions?

So, I have taken an interest in Binary Options after I was watching a friend of mine trade them. He was using a broker that wasn't U.S. based (given he doesn't live in the U.S.) and MT4 with a software known as Binary Strategy. From what I've read, its really good at 15-min expiry times. As i was watching him trade, he was explaining how he was making a few hundred dollars every week using this setup. It intrigued me enough to want to try it, however, I've run into some snags along the way. Nadex seems to be the only broker that is reliable and honest, I dont want to try my luck with a broker not regulated under U.S. law or CTFC, but I haven't been able to find a way to receive signals on Nadex's platform, which leads my to believe that its not allowed. I was wondering if anyone had any input or suggestions on a better way to refine my potential method of trading. Essentially, my thought process was to use MetaTrader 4 for the charting, and use a signal software on MetaTrader 4 to receive signals, then translate the information manually to Nadex to setup and complete a trade. Im not very experienced in this realm of trading, I have dabbled in stocks before, and was also horrificly ripped off from coinbase from bitcoin and ethereum a few years ago, but ive decide to give it another go, try something new. IF there is anyone who can lead my in the right direction or some pointers, much appreciation.

Questions from a teen looking to have a future career in Day-Trading options but wanting to start now.

First of all, thanks for taking the time to read this. All advice will be taken into consideration and appreciated. So I'm 18 and have about $1000 I'm willing to trade. I've done quite a bit of research on Forex, Binary Options, and Equity Options. The thing is, I don't know which one to chose to get started with.
Does one platform cater to new traders or people looking to trade part-time? I've been looking into Nadex a little bit and more specifically the FOREX trading that takes place within it, and it seems really profitible but a lot of people consider Binary Options a scam, so I've been leaning away from it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what platform I should choose in hope to make a little bit of money, learn risk management, and gain some experience?
EDIT: Also, while I'm at it, I might as well ask. Is trading FOREX basically option trading?
